Escape: Knowsley Safari Park

Sally the blue and gold Macaw has returned after going missing for nearly 2 weeks. She flew off during a display and was eventually found by a couple in Kirkby in a tree opposite their house. |

Several babies have been born in the last few weeks, including and Axis Deer, a Nilgai antelope, and the Ostrich eggs have hatched naturally, without intervention by the keepers. |
Escape: London Zoo

Betty the Squirrel Monkey, and a few others of her group, escaped into Regent's Park for a day, by means of tree branches overhanging the Meet the Monkeys enclosure. The others soon returned following encouragement by keepers, but Betty remained in the Park, only returning when it got dark. The offending branches were then quickly removed. |

Two Persian Leopard cubs born, to Shakira and Kalaf, their first litter. The parents are part of an international breeding programme for this highly endangered species, and the cubs are the first Persian Leopards born in the UK in 5 years. |

`SpongeBob' the Bolivian Squirrel Monkey went missing, presumed stolen, following a break-in at the Monkey & Bird Garden. The other 9 monkeys were found in or near their enclosure. SpongeBob only joined the group 3 months ago, as part of a European Endangered Species Programme. SpongeBob was returned 3 days later, having been handed in to Brixton Police Station by a member of the public who found him playing with some children in Clapham. |

Official opening of the new Monkey Jungle exhibit. This features new naturalistic enclosures for the howler monkeys, lion-tailed macaques, and de Brazza's monkeys, along with a walk-through enclosure for ring-tailed and red ruffed lemurs. |
