Sampson, a male African Lion, has arrived from Combe Martin Animal and Dinosaur Park, to join Connie the resident female following the recent death of her brother Charlie. |

An Elephant calf has sadly not survived its birth. Its mother Damini's pregnancy had been going well until that point. Damini has also since been given a clean bill of health after a complete veterinary check. |

Tara the Asian Elephant has sadly given birth to a stillborn female calf. Until this point the pregnancy (Tara's first) had appeared to be going well, as did the birth itself. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. |

A baby male Southern White Rhino called Angus has been born, the third for the Park. Other recent births include a Lechwe, a Meerkat, a Marmoset, a Wllaby joey and a Donkey foal. |

Two baby Eastern Bongos have been born: Bo was born on 24 February, to mum Fern, and Bert was born on 14 March, to mum Willa. Embu, the resident male, is the father of both calves. Belfast Zoo is home to one of the largest and most successful breeding herds in the UK, with a total of 10 Bongos; indeed, there are currently only two larger herds in Europe. The zoo has welcomed over 22 calves since 2005, which have since been sent to zoos across the UK and Europe as part of the international breeding programme for this critically endangered species. |

A baby Aardvark has been born, the 7th for mum Oq, and the 8th for the group overall. Mum and baby are again being separated from the main group for about a month while the baby grows stronger, but visitors will still be able to see them via CCTV. Update: The baby is now known to be female, and has been named Saphira. Mum and baby have also now rejoined the main group. |

A baby Goeldi's Monkey has been born, to parents Tuff and Herbie. The baby's sex is yet to be determined, as it is too young to be separated from its mother. |

A baby female Chimpanzee called Lucy has been born, to experienced mum Lizzie and dad Andy. She is also the first Chimpanzee birth at the zoo since 1997. |
