Twin Pied Tamarin babies have been born, to parents Leia and Jedi. The pair, a male named Chewie and a female named Padme, are being hand reared by keepers after their mother showed signs of neglecting them. This species is the most endangered of the Amazon primates, and is classified as critically endangered. |

A baby Aardvark has been born, to mother Oq, great news for the European breeding programme for this species, which is becoming increasingly threatened in the wild from habitat destruction. Colchester has successfully raised two previous babies, the only UK zoo (and one of only two in Europe) to have bred this notoriously difficult species. Update: The baby is now known to be a boy, and has been named Kiyo. |
