A male Tufted Deer fawn has been born, the first for parents Michelle and Mitch. The baby has been named Ying Xiong. Twycross is the only UK zoo to exhibit and now breed this rare species. |

A male baby Woolly Monkey has been born, to experienced parents Djoi and Miguel. Good news for this endangered species. |

A female baby Pygmy Hippopotamus called Leishan has been born to parents Ellen and Otto, and is their first. Great news for this critically endangered species, which is under threat from habitat loss and hunting. |

A two-year-old male Amur Leopard called Sayan has arrived from Mulhouse Zoo in France. He is currently on show in a temporary enclosure in the Aquatic Zone while he undergoes six month's quarantine. He will then be introduced to Milena, the resident female, in the hope that they will form a breeding pair. Amur Leopards are currently the rarest of the big cats, with just 35 left in the wild. There is, however, a healthy captive population, and it is hoped that some can be returned to the wild in the future. |

A Black Wildebeest calf has been born, to mum Malaga who was already pregnant when she arrived back in March. Two of the four arrivals also moved to Marwell Zoo in May to expand the breeding programme. |

A family of Red-bellied Lemurs arrived from Paris Zoo in December, and have now moved into the Madagascan Walkthrough exhibit following completion of their quarantine period. This includes an adult male and female, two young males, and a baby that was born on 21 April while in quarantine. |
