Description
Originally known as The Bellevue Zoo, Belfast Zoo is set amidst beautiful woodland on the spectacular hillside of Cave Hill, affording stunning views over Belfast City. With good sized enclosures for the animals which range from elephants, lions and tigers to sealions, penguins and chimpanzees, and after much expansion over recent years, it can boast to be one of the most up to date zoos in Europe.

A pair of Ring-Tailed Lemur twins have been born, to first time mum Ringo.
Arrival: May 2010
A pair of Red Titi Monkeys have arrived, from Blackpool and London Zoos, to form a new breeding pair as part of the European breeding programme for this species. The male is called Aztec and the female is called Inca.

There is access to all of the zoo's exhibits and facilities for visitors with disabilities, who may also enter the zoo for free. Disabled toilet facilities are also available, and mobility scooters can be hired - but must be booked in advance.

How To Get There:
By Car
From the North:
Approach Belfast on the M2. Leave motorway at Junction 4 for Glengormley / Larne. Take the third exit off the roundabout- the Zoo is signposted here. Follow this road through Glengormley and beyond for a mile. The Zoo is on right, just past the motorway bridge.
From the South/West:
Approach Belfast on the M1. Follow directions for the M2, over the West Link. Stay on the M2 until second junction. Leave the motorway at Junction 2 - Greenisland/ Whitwell / Rathcoole. The Zoo is signposted from here. Take the extreme left slip road. Follow the signs.
From the City Centre or Co.Down:
Follow directions for the M2 - see above (From the South/West)
By Public Transport
By bus:
From the City Centre, Metro buses no.s 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f, (1g) and 2a all stop at the Zoo.
