Subu the 20-year-old male African Lion has sadly been put to sleep. He had been suffering from chronic active spinal arthritis. |

A baby Eastern Bongo has been born, to parents Fern and Embu. Great news for this Critically Endangered species, which has less than 140 left in the wild. The baby has been named Eggbert. |

Minky the female Andean Bear has sadly passed away. At 21 she was one of the oldest of her species in European zoos, and the combination of her old age and a malignant tumour were responsible for her death. |

A pair of Visayan Warty Pigs called Malcolm and Mabel have arrived, to form a new breeding pair as part of the breeding programme for this Critically Endangered species, the most endangered of all pigs. |

Fifteen Partula faba Tree Snails have been born. This colony of 88 snails is the only one in the world; the species is extinct in the wild, due to the introduction of other snail species to its native French Polynesian island of Raiatea and loss of habitat. |

Marilyn, a Two-toed Sloth, has arrived from Holland to join Prince, the resident male, to replace his previous "mate" Sheila when it was discovered that "she" was actually also male! |

Two White Storks called Sylvia and Maggie have arrived from Colchester Zoo, to take up residence in the African Savannah enclosure, where they will also join another recent arrival, a Waterbuck called Jenny, who came from the former Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park. |
