The Parks collection of animals features larger species such as Guanaco, Zebu, Wallabies, several species of deer, and goats, sheep, ponies and donkeys. Smaller animals include Scottish Wildcat, two species of Otter, Squirrel and Capuchin Monkeys, and Lemurs. Avariety of bird species are also present, including Flamingos, Owls, Sarus Cranes, Black Swans, Peacocks, Pheasants, Geese and Ducks. You can feed the deer, ponies, pets corner animals, and ducks with special food on sale at the zoo. The otters are fed daily (at 3:30pm, April to October), and they love an audience!
The Butterfly Pavillion features many exotic butterflies that fly around you in a naturalistic setting. There are also a veriety of snakes, spiders and other insects, all safely behind glass, together with small monkeys, lovebirds and finches. Goldfish, toads and terrapins can also be seen in the pools.
The Park's maze provides extra entertainment for all the family, and features a system of water sprinklers that douse you if you take the wrong path! It is operational from mid March to late October, and entry is included in the Park's normal admission fee.
How To Get There:
By Car
Molehall is situated in the picturesque village of Widdington, just south of Newport Village and near Saffron Walden, an ancient town steeped in history. The park is clearly sign posted from the B1383 and junction 8 of the M11.
From the south:
Take the M11 north towards Cambridge, and leave at junction 8. Make sure that you don't overshoot junction 8; junction 8a is only a few hundred yards on from junction 8 and takes you on a wild goose chase (to Stansted Airport). Turn left onto the A120, and continue across the next roundabout on the A120 around Bishop's Stortford. At the next roundabout, turn right onto the B1383 towards Saffron Walden. Continue north on the B1383 through Stansted Muntfitchet and the small village of Quendon towards Newport. After crossing the M11 motorway, take the second turning right, and follow the unclassified road into the village of Widdington, and follow the signs to the Wildlife Park.
From the east (Braintree and Colchester):
Follow the A120 west to Bishop's Stortford. After crossing the M11 motorway, continue as described above (from the south).
From the north:
Follow the A14 and then M11 south past Cambridge. Leave the M11 at junction 10 (Duxford). Turn left onto the A505, towards Newmarket. Turn right at the second roundabout onto the A1301 towards Saffron Walden. At Stump Cross (junction of M11 and A11), continue forward across a series of roudabouts, then turn right at the last of them onto the B1383 to Great Chesterford. Continue south on the B1383 through Great Chesterford, Littlebury, Audley End and Newport. About half a mile past Newport, turn left, follow the unclassified road into the village of Widdington, and follow the signs to the Wildlife Park.
From Cambridge:
Take the A1301 south to Stump Cross, then continue as described above (from the north).
From the north east (eg Norwich):
Follow the A11 south west past Thetford, and continue onto the A14, near Newmarket, towards Cambridge. Continue past Newmarket, then take the A11 south towards London. At Stump Cross, where the A11 meets the M11, turn left then right onto the B1383 to Great Chesterford., and continue as described above (from the north).
