Description
Jedforest Deer and Farm Park is set among the rolling hills of the Border Country of southern Scotland, on part of an 800-acre working farm. The working farm is a mixed cattle, sheep, and arable concern. The Park's animal collection includes herds of three different species of Deer: Red, Fallow, and Sika. It is also home to many old and interesting breeds of farm animals: Highland and Belted Galloway Cattle, six different breeds of Sheep, five breeds of pigs, and six breeds of poultry. The collection also contains Donkeys, Connemara and Shetland Ponies, Llamas, and a variety of waterfowl and small pets. Visitors to the Park have the opportunity to feed, and even cuddle, some of the animals.
The Park is also host to Falconry Scotland, which provides daily birds of prey displays, demonstrations, and handling sessions, at no additional cost. For full detail, see its own entry in this guide.
How To Get There:
By Car
From Edinburgh:
Follow the A68 south-east through Lauder, Earlston, and on to and through Jedburgh. Continue on A68 for about a further 6 miles, then turn right onto unclassified road, signposted for Mervinslaw and Falside. The Jedforest Deer and Farm Park will then be on the right after about 0.5 mile.
From Carlisle:
Follow the A7 north through Langholm to Hawick. Follow signs through the town to join the A698 towards Jedburgh, Kelso, and Berwick-upon-Tweed. Follow the A698 north-east for about 11 miles, to its junction with the A68. Turn right onto the A68 and continue through Jedburgh, and on to the Park as described above (from Edinburgh).
From Newcastle upon Tyne:
Follow A696, and then A68 north-west towards Jedburgh and Edinburgh. Shortly after passing through Camptown village, turn left onto unclassified road, signposted for Mervinslaw and Falside. The Jedforest Deer and Farm Park will then be on the right after about 0.5 mile.
