Description
The Tropical Wings World of Wildlife is located just outside South Woodham Ferrers, between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea in Essex. Many of its displays are under cover, making Tropical Wings an all-weather attraction. This includes one of the largest butterfly houses in the country. As well as free-flying butterflies, the animal collection also includes a veriety of exotic parrots, marmosets, red squirrels, wallabies, meerkats, skunks, polecats, raccoons, ring-tailed lemurs, reptiles, and owls and other birds of prey.
For the children, Tropical Wings features an assault course adventure playground, toddler's play area, mini-tractor rides, pets corner, and an extensive daily programme of interactive animal handling and feeding sessions. There are also flying demonstrations for some of the owls and other birds of prey.
The Butterfly Tea Rooms provides a range of hot and cold home-baked refreshments, including cream teas, cakes, and complete meals. There are also other snack bars and picnic areas, some under cover.
