Description
The Tropical Birdland is located in the village of Desford, near Leicester, and about 10 minutes from M1 J21. Tropical Birdland is home to hundreds of exotic birds, from over 80 different species. The collection includes macaws, parrots, parakeets, toucans, emus, owls, and hornbills. Most of the birds are housed in large aviaries, one of which visitors can walk through. Some birds, including macaws and cockatiels, are also allowed to fly free around the Gardens, and will often approach visitors for food. There is also a `Woodland Walk' nature trail, where you may be lucky enough to see a variety of native wildlife, such as woodpeckers, kingfishers, jays, and squirrels.

How To Get There:
By Car
From Burton Upon Trent:
Follow the A511 through Ashby De La Zouch towards Leicester. Turn right at roundabout onto A447 (signposted Ibstock). Continue on A447 through Ibstock and on to junction with B585 (signposted right to Market Bosworth). Turn left onto B585, and continue to `T' junction with B582. Turn right onto B582, and continue through Newbold Verdon to Desford. Bear left into Newbold Road, then turn left into Lindridge Lane towards Thornton. Tropical Birdland will then shortly be on the left.
From M1 north & south, and M69:
Follow M1 or M69 to their junction, at M1 J21 (Leicester Forest East). Turn onto A563 towards Leicester and continue to roundabout with A5460 and B4114. Turn right onto B4114, and continue across roundabout juntion with A563 towards Narborough. Turn right at next roundabout onto B582 and continue through Enderby. Follow B582 across staggered left-right junction with A47 and on into Desford. In the centre, turn right into old Main Street, and follow it around a sharp left-hand bend. Turn right into Lindridge Lane, towards Thornton, and Tropical Birdland will shortly be on the left.
