Description
Acorn Venture Farm was founded in 1985 to give visitors the chance to get involved with `hands-on' practical farming. There are a range of animals on the farm, including sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, horses, poultry, rabbits and guinea pigs. A variety of special activities are available at weekends and during bank and school holidays, such as the small animal petting and horse rides described above, and on specific days throughout the year - see the farm's website for details.

Special Attractions
Small animal petting: activities vary but can include an opportunity to learn how to milk a goat, groom a rabbit and lots more. Half-hour sessions (£1 per person, except under 12 months), start times 11:30 - 3:30 peak season, 12:00 - 3:00 off-peak, weekends, bank and school holidays only.
Horse rides: two circuits of the arena for £1.50, weekends, bank and school holidays 1:30 - 3:00.

Farm Shop selling home produced goods such as meat, eggs and dairy produce, together with souvenirs, sweets and drinks.

How To Get There:
By Car
Acorn Venture Urban Farm is signposted by brown tourist signs from the A580 East Lancashire Road.
From the M6 (north or south):
Leave the M6 at junction 23, then turn west onto the A580 East Lancashire Road, towards Kirkby and Liverpool. Continue for about 10 miles, past St. Helens, to the outskirts of Kirkby and Knowsley. Turn right at traffic lights onto A5208 Cooper's Lane towards Kirkby, and Knowsley Industrial Park (not Business Park). At the next roundabout take the second exit onto Perimeter Road. Follow this road around the Industrial Park for about 1 mile and then turn left into Moss End Way and next right into Depot Road. The entrance to the Acorn Venture Urban Farm will then be on your right after a short distance.
From Liverpool city centre:
Take the A59, then A580 north and east out of the city, towards Kirkby and St. Helens. Continue across the A5058 and M57 then, about 1 mile after crossing the M57, turn left at traffic lights into A5208 Cooper's Lane, towards Kirkby, and Knowsley Industrial Park (not Business Park). Follow the signs to Acorn Venture Urban Farm, as described above (from M6).
By Public Transport
The number 123 bus runs hourly between Kirkby Town Centre \nd Moss End Way. The Acorn Venture Urban Farm is then a short walk along Depot Road.
